Where is Summer Going?

Okay, just like that, it's July. So a little bit of catch up for June. We had a family CES activity at Steadman Ranch, outside of Pocatello. It's really just someone's back yard, but it has a couple of cool slip n slides and a zip line with some picnic shelters. The little kids had fun on the slip n slides. I went down once, and then kind of vegged because I was feeling sick--have a nasty head cold.

We've also spent some time babysitting Ryker, McKenzie's little boy. Here he is as Batman.

We had a little get together for my dad's birthday. Kristi hosted it at her house and we had dinner and played outside.

I've been wanting to try out the bike trail at the Blackfoot Reservoir for a long time, so, Kory and I figured out how to hitch up our bike rack and took Morgan on a little adventure. Had to grab some slices of pie from the Homestead to finish it off.

Kory and I had some free time, so we took a trip to Star Valley and had a fun adventure. Kory's old boss grew up in Star Valley, so we asked him for some suggestions about places to eat and hike, etc. We started out by eating at Tootsie's. Nice sandwiches, soup, and pie.

Then, we tracked down Intermittent Springs. This is a really unusual (only three in the world) spring, which basically shuts off every 18 minutes or so. Right now, the water table is really high, so it didn't shut off, but it was a short, pretty hike, and fun to check it out.

After that, we found the Star Valley temple. It looks like it will be ready for the open house soon.

We headed home by way of Freedom, WY and Soda Springs, ID. It was an interesting drive. Never seen that area before.

When we got home, we ate something, went for a bike ride, and then joined our neighbors for their yearly Driveway of Fire!

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member. He hissed and growled at Todd, who didn’t seem overly c...
