Saying Good-bye

Kory's mom, Deanne Kunz, has had Parkinson's for a little over twenty years. Starting last fall, she started to go downhill. They were in St. George for the winter and she started having home health come in several times a week. When she and LaRell came back to Teton Valley at the beginning of June, she was still getting around well, but she was hallucinating--seeing kids, and dogs, and all sorts of things. We knew she would need some home health, but imagined she would be this way throughout the summer. Kory and I and the kids tried to come to the valley a bit more to give LaRell some help around the house and yard. On June 17, Kory and I came out with Caleb and Chloe and helped around the yard and helped with Deanne. She had started having a much harder time getting up so that it almost took two people to get her anywhere. Nicole was here helping for a few days. On Tuesday, Deanne stopped eating and was no longer able to swallow pills and her kidneys seemed to be shut

Big Moments

So, I forgot to post some birthday pictures. Isaac and Lakyn shared a birthday dinner at Texas Roadhouse. On Father's Day we had cake and ice cream for Lakyn with the rest of the family there to help celebrate.   On Monday, June 19, Kory took Isaac and his friend, Braden, skydiving in Ogden. That's Kory's standing offer, whenever the kids turn 18. I told Kory that since he has already sky-dived three times, I felt like he was increasing his odds of dieing, so he didn't skydive this time, he just watched. They had a good time. On Tuesday, Isaac went through the temple for the first time. He went through the recently re-opened Idaho Falls temple. Kory, me, Austin, Leah, Grandpa Kunz, Lynette, Monica, Grandma Andrus, and Chris Monson. It was a really special experience and Isaac was excited to go back as much as he can before he leaves for his mission. Later, Kory and I took Isaac to Red Robin.

Wait, Where did June Go?

June started off with a bang with the Idaho Falls Temple Dedication. Caleb and Phoebe participated in the Youth Cultural Celebration which involved months of rehearsals and several very long, hot days of dress rehearsal. It turned out great. Kory and I watched it streaming on our computer at home. Caleb even got a few seconds on the big screen in the potato dance.  Kory and I went to the first session of the dedication and then watched Andy while Leah and Austin went with the rest of the kids and their mom to the next one. Kory had a nice nap with Andy. Kory's parents came back for the summer from St. George and we celebrated LaRell's 80th birthday at Josh and Kasey's house. A lot of the older kids were able to make it and we had a fun celebration.  We didn't have the kids for a couple of weeks, so I worked like crazy on my dissertation while fighting through a horrible two-week cold, which is represented by this garbage can full of Kl
