September

September meant that BYUI got back into the swing of things. But on the home front, Chloe had her initial appointment at the orthodontist for braces. Caleb was going strong with cross country. We tried to get Isaac and Phoebe all prepped for school with lots of shopping trips for clothes, food, computers, etc. One day we took Morgan to the library and she wasn’t too interested in any books until she realized she could get books in French. I had my usual back to school meetings, but we also had a faculty member in my department die of cancer and her funeral was that week, so that was kind of sobering. Kory was made Elder’s Quorum President, so he has had a lot of meetings and things to get done. He’s doing a great job. I was able to finally schedule the defense for my dissertation! It will be on November 12, barring any catastrophes before that. If I pass, I’ll graduate December 13 th . Fingers crossed! Phoebe had all of the usual fun college student things happ

August 2019

I spent the first week of August holed up in my office working on my dissertation. On the 1 st , we took a short walk around the Green Belt with Leah & Austin’s family and Isaac. We got rained out pretty quick, though. On the 3 rd , Kory was kind enough to hang out in my office with me while I worked on the dissertation. He’s so supportive! Later that night, all of the kids came over for pizza and to hang out before Austin had to head back to Phoenix. On August 8, Kory, Isaac, and Phoebe headed out to Michigan for a few days. They visited people Isaac taught, old companions, attended one of Isaac’s branches and saw some beautiful sites. They swam in the lake and hiked the sand dunes and visited a light house. Back on the home front, Morgan entertained herself by learning Russian. Caleb had a great idea for doing smores in the kitchen with the flame from a candle. Caleb ran a bit in preparation for cross country, which started
