Sleeping Out and Museums

Last night the little kids decided to sleep out. So, we set them up with some sleeping pads and then Kory told them some stories to help nudge them towards sleep. I thought for sure they'd all come inside by midnight, but at 6:00 a.m. I peeked out the window and all three of them had made it through the night. They are tougher than I am. I was infamous in my neighborhood for waiting until everyone was asleep and sneaking back to my house and sleeping in my bed. This morning the kids all did their chores/checklist. This is our first full week together this summer, so I finallly made them do all the usual summer chores. It's so cute to watch them practicing piano, reading scriptures, doing school workbooks, etc. After lunch, we headed to the art museum. We looked at the exhibits and then the kids had a fun time in the Kid's Corner doing art projects. After that, we went to the Museum of Idaho and checked out their exhibit on the Revolution

Birthday and Father's Day

On Father's Day, we headed up to Victor after church. There were ten from our family and all of Josh's family. Kory's parents were so nice to provide dinner for everyone. We also took some time to celebrate Lakyn's birthday. The kids always like visiting Victor. Such a beautiful place.

Billings and Beartooth Byway

Kory and I got out of town this weekend. We like to pick a temple and make a little road trip out of it. We decided to drive to Billings and attend the temple there. We took off on Friday, driving through West Yellowstone, Big Sky, and Bozeman (beautiful drive). We got to Billings in time to eat dinner and make a session at the temple. On the way to Billings, I was looking at some travel brochures in a gas station and noticed this pamphlet about the Beartooth Scenic Byway. It looked really interesting, so we checked out the map and decided to head home via that road and go through Yellowstone National Park. We took off bright and early. This was SUCH a pretty drive. All kinds of scenery and it levels out at about 11,000 feet, so it's like driving over the top of Table Rock. Then you drop down and see all of these alpine lakes and waterfalls and then you hit Yellowstone. I've never taken that entrance to Yellowstone, so we saw some nice scenery there. We didn't ha

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te

First Week of Summer Break

For FHE on Monday we  had a great object lesson by Kory and Chloe and then got treats at the Green Belt. The kids were at their moms for most of the week, but I got to spend some quality time with the grandkids. Ryker is on the move Morgan had her first spill of the summer on the scooter. I'm going to post some gross pictures--sorry, but it was a pretty memorable spill--both knees, elbow, hands, ripped toe-nail, etc. I was consulting with Nathan and Terry to figure out what to do. I ended up just taking her to the doctor to make sure it got cleaned out alright. Morgan has been a trooper through all the bandage changes and etc. I got her a doughnut at Rita's for being so brave. Left Knee Right Knee The funny thing was, when I went to WalMart to get all the bandages, there were all these huge displays of Band-Aids and First Aid kits. I wondered if there was an uptick of accidents when kids get out of school. If so, we helped add to the statistics.

Graduation and First Day of Summer Vacation

We now have an official graduate of Idaho Falls High School. Isaac's graduation ceremony was Wednesday night. He also found out that he has been named the All Area Athlete of the Year for Track, so he will be featured in the Post Register next week. At the all-night Senior party he got hypnotized and was apparently very entertaining. :)  Friday, the kids were ready to party, with school being out. Phoebe had a bunch of friends over for a water fight/paint party. The little kids joined in where they could. Saturday morning we had Seminary graduation.  Isaac was one of the speakers and did a great job. We were actually a little surprised because he tends to be more on the quiet side, but he is a good public speaker.  After graduation, we gathered everyone up and went to Rexburg Rapids for the afternoon. The weather was perfect--hot but not killer hot. We all had fun on the slides and in the lazy river. S
