August 11

We took off from New York and headed to Kirtland, Ohio. Obviously, there was lots of driving on this trip. The kids got through the entire extended version of The Lord of the Rings trilogy in addition to a bunch of other movies. We were really grateful for the DVD player. And of course, they got a lot of sleep.



We got there and went to the Kirtland Temple. This is owned by the RLDS church or Community of Christ. They had a nice visitor's center and a good tour guide. We enjoyed the tour and we sang The Spirit of God before we left.





 The Whitney store is a neat place to visit. I didn't realize this, but there were some appearances here and you definitely feel a strong spirit there. This is where the Word of Wisdom was revealed and a lot of Joseph Smith's meetings were conducted.









That evening we stayed with my brother's family in Columbus, OH. My parents were also visiting, since his daughter was getting baptized that weekend. They were great hosts and they have an incredible house. I must have been too tired to get any photos.

  April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

  January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member.
