Is It Summer Yet?

Only five days until class ends, but I think I'm already on vacation in my head. Not a good thing. So, this weekend, I played pretty hard, which was fun. Friday night, I took some of Kristi's kids to the drive-in to watch Monsters University. This was a first for them. We spread out sleeping pads, sleeping bags, and pillows in the back of Dad's pick-up and I rigged up the stereo so we would have sound. Of course, everyone but Ellie was asleep before the end, they were more interested in the treats I brought than the movie, but hey.....it's not really about seeing the movie, right. In fact, Ainsley looked up and said, "Look at how bright the stars are," and we enjoyed the stars for a few minutes. We left before the second show--"Lone Ranger"--because I definitely cannot stay awake that late.

Saturday morning, Joelle and I loaded up some kayaks and headed to Mack's Inn to float down the river. We got in at the Big Springs Boat Launch and enjoyed a beautiful hour or so, making it back to Mack's Inn. It wasn't too hot, a little windy, but perfect for kayaking. We only got stopped on the gravel a couple of times. I think the kayaks move quite a bit faster than canoes and rafts. I will definitely try that again.

That evening, lots of the family went to "Patriots and Pioneers," a big show at the I-Center. I was sitting by Kristi and Abby. Someone near us was really dousing themselves with lotion or something throughout the show. All of the sudden I felt this little nose on my arm, and I looked down and Abby was smelling me. She was trying to find the source of the smell, and for some reason it really cracked me up that she was smelling me. And her little nose is so cute. :) After a great show, we went out for Blizzards.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member. He hissed and growled at Todd, who didn’t seem overly c...
