February 2021

February

We started February with a little birthday party for Friend, Morgan’s teddy bear. The night before, she gave him a spa day. The day of his birthday, we sang to him, blew out the candles on a pretend birthday cake, and gave him some pretend presents! I’m sure Friend was very touched! Morgan also got her last baby teeth pulled that day to get ready for braces.

On February 5, we had a CES training for employees and spouses. One of Jason’s friends let us use his amazing theatre room to watch the video. On February 6, my mom hosted all of the kids and spouses for an amazing dinner of prime rib, shrimp, rolls, salad, etc! It was fun to be together with no kids (no offense kids) so that we could visit.

On the 7th, the Kunz families gathered at Josh and Kasey’s for a Superbowl Watching party. We had tons of delicious food-ribs, ham sandwiches, tons and tons of dips and chips and snacks. It was great. The game was pretty grim. We were cheering for the Chiefs and they were playing the Buccaneers. Around halftime, Kory was hiding out in the upstairs bedroom, Josh later joined him to avoid watching the game. Josh said it was actually easier to have them lose by a long way rather than a super close game. So, people were bummed, but we had fun with the relatives anyway.

Morgan and Chloe had some fun making Valentine’s baskets. Morgan’s featured handsome Squidward (from Spongebob) and Chloe did a shrine to Harry Styles. Chloe is in high school, but her Spanish class decided to give Valentines and do boxes.

For our 7th wedding anniversary weekend, we went up to Driggs. We wanted to get a cool Airbnb, but it was President’s Day weekend and everything was booked. We ended up staying at the Super 8 in Driggs! Haha. Anyway, we drove up Friday night after work and there was freezing fog, so we had to pull over a few times to scrape off the iced over windshield. It was a little scary.

We checked into the hotel, then we went to the Brakeman in Victor for some hamburgers. They were delicious! We then stopped at Broulims to get some snacks. We watched some DVDs and then went to sleep. On Saturday, we ate the breakfast at the hotel, then, since no one was in the hot tub, we spent some time in the hot tub. Then we headed up to Teton Canyon to do some x-country skiing. I used to x-country ski  a lot in the winter, but haven’t gone since I got married. Kory has downhill skied but not x-country, so we had to get used to it. I was really out of shape, so it was slow going, but it was beautiful scenery and not too crowded with people while we were there. We had a good time! After that , we just vegged. We weren’t super hungry, so we got some fried chicken from Broulims, rather than eating out.

Sunday morning we watched our sacrament ward meeting on Youtube and then headed home. We stopped off at Kristi’s to see Ellie, who had returned from her mission to Colorado. It was great to see her.

Monday was a holiday, but we just did a lot of our usual work around the house, since we’d been gone for a couple of days. We did go to Kneaders for some French toast and later to Panera for lunch.

On Saturday, the 20th, we moved a bunch of Lakyn’s stuff into a storage unit. That night the kids went to McKenzie’s to watch a movie and we went to the Skyline/Hillcrest game. We were cheering for Skyline, because Kory teaches there, but Kory’s nephew Sam is on the Hillcrest team, so we were pretty much cheering for both. Jared and Josh were there too.

On February 24 we went to Skyline to see Caleb perform in the radio-play version of Dracula. He did a great job and had a lot of lines. He played a man who had been bitten by Dracula.

On February 26, Kory and I went to Lava Hot Springs for a soak. Later that night we ate the Rusty Lantern in Ucon. We tried buttermilk pie, which I’ve never eaten before.

On the 27th, we went to Sugar City to visit with Aunt Linda and my parents. We went to lunch at the Red Rabbit Grill. On the 28th, Ellie gave her mission report. We watched via Youtube and she did a great job. Later, we all met at mom and dad’s to visit some more.

    1. I know, me either. It tastes a little bit like flan....custardy with a little glaze over the top.

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te
