May 2019

We started out May with Madi’s birthday, so we had fun taking her and Quinton to dinner at the Snakebite and then walking around the green belt for a little while.

Caleb has recently been obsessed with Queen, so he’s been trying to learn Bohemian Rhapsody on the piano. He’s really only had about one level of piano lessons, so it’s a pretty big undertaking, but he’s persistent. One night I walked in while he was working on it and he put his head in his hands and said, “Why did he have to be such a genius?”

We had a beautiful Saturday on the 11th, so we decided to take the kids to the driving range and let them work on their golf swings. It was pretty fun watching all of them at it with Kory coaching.

On Mother’s Day, we invited my parents and Maddie Gee over for dinner. Kory made his delicious pork chops and mashed potatoes, then we went down to the green belt and walked around a bit and took some pictures with them. It was fun to spend time with them that day.

That night, Chloe and Phoebe chilled in Chloe’s hammock and we all started getting excited for summer.

On the 13th, Ryker and McKenzie came over to hang out.

On the 15th, Caleb had his choir concert. This last concert focuses on popular music, and Caleb got a short solo in the song “Shallow.” He sounded great! He’s realized how much he likes music this year.

On the 18th, after we went to the temple, Kory and I stopped at the Farmer’s Market and bought some homemade salsa, and ate some delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and corndogs.

Sunday the 19th was Phoebe’s seminary graduation. Kory’s dad came to watch. Kory was kind of in charge and got to say a few words. It was fun to start all the graduation festivities for Phoebe.

On the 23rd, Chloe had her final choir concert, which also featured popular music. They sounded great. Idaho Falls has a very strong choir program.

On the 24th, Morgan performed in her 4th grade Go West program. She had a speaking part and said her part loud and clear. It was fun to watch her!

On the 26th, Kory and I took Morgan to Rexburg to hear Kami Gee report her mission to the Philippines in her old ward. She gave a great talk. After that, we went to put some flowers on graves in the Sugar Cemetery and drove around. Later, we had dinner at the Anderson’s and Shawn and Amy’s family joined us. We had a great time visiting.

On Monday, the kids were with their mom, so we picked up Morgan again and took her with us to Victor. She had fun playing with Josh’s kids and we driving the 4-wheeler BY HERSELF to the Cedron Cemetery. We had a great dinner and hung out and then headed back home for the kid’s last week of school.

On Tuesday the 28th, Phoebe graduated from Skyline High School. We took Caleb and Chloe with us to the ceremony. We’re proud of Phoebe and excited for her next steps on her journey.

Caleb has basically taught himself to read piano chords and he’s starting to really figure out how to play hymns and all kinds of songs. Sometimes I wish I could pick things up as easily as he does. What an amazing kid!

On the 31st the kids had their last day of school and summer officially began!! Kory also enjoyed his last day of school. He has loved teaching as Skyline Seminary with Brother Ball and Brother Atkins. He's excited to be back there next year and to continue to teach Caleb.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member. He hissed and growled at Todd, who didn’t seem overly c...
