June Gone too Soon!

On June 25 we continued some festivities with David and Kelley's family. Caleb brought a bunch of his superhero costumes and he and Bronson had fun fighting crime in the backyard.

Dad gave Kory a lesson in driving the Razor and then Kory took the kids for a spin.

On the way home we stopped at KariAnne's for some summertime goodness.

Wednesday the 27th my mom, dad, Kristi, Terry, me, and Kory went to dinner to celebrate all of our respective birthdays! We went to the Teton House in Menan, so on the way home we stopped at the Browning homestead and looked at the little memorial they built there for Grandma Neona Browning. They have a little shelter built out of some of the original wood from her house and then a flagpole with everyone's names.

On Thursday, Kory took the day off to be with the kids. We had planned to take them to Rexburg Rapids, but it was one of those awesome windy Idaho days, so instead they went to Battle Zone.

On Friday, June 29, we headed for Utah after work, arriving in Salt Lake around 8:30--with a little stop at In n Out on the way, of course. The kids immediately headed for the pool and then we all hit the hay.

The next morning, we walked with the kids over to Kneaders for some breakfast and then Kory and I went to the Salt Lake Temple to watch his nephew, Cole, get married. Here is a picture of Kory's sister Halli and all of her kids. Great family and we're so happy for them.
After the sealing we went back to our hotel and checked out and took Chloe and Caleb to the This is the Place Heritage Park. As Caleb said, quoting Jim Gaffigan, "It's like a real park, but without the fun." That being said, we had a good time!

This is the original This is the Place Monument. I don't know if I'd ever seen that before.

This is a little replica of the Ship Brooklyn.

There's an amazing view of the valley from up there.

We stopped at the schoolhouse for some reading, writing, and arithmetic!
Followed by a stop at Brigham's Doughnuts for some freshmade doughnuts.

Chloe and Caleb were excited to see some of their Andrus relations featured in the park.
After that, we got some lunch at Zupa's and then headed back to Temple Square. We were going to stop in the Family History Library for just a second but the kids were so enchanted by the interactive displays, we stayed for two hours. Plus, we got Chloe's account all figured out because it hadn't been working for her.

After that, we went to the Church History Museum and the kids really liked the First Vision movie we saw there. We stopped by the Visitor's Center for a picture with the Christus.

This series of pictures I entitle Selfies for Dummies!!!Or make that, Selfies of Dummies!

We changed our clothes and headed up to the 9th floor of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for the wedding dinner. First, there were appetizers and drinks for about an hour. (Non-alcoholic of course). Then we went into the meal, which was a three-course meal for about 250 people. I told Chloe, "Take a good look around because this is the only wedding you will ever attend that will be this expensive." We had a good time visiting with all of Kory's relatives and then we slipped out to head home.

This is a random picture but I came home one day and found this leaning against the wall. I guess that's what happens when you're married to a seminary teacher! Ha!

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te...

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...
