Deck the Halls

For FHE the Monday after Thanksgiving we put up the Christmas tree. Madison is the expert tree putter-upper and we were super glad that she and Quinton came to help us decorate.




This was the week for parent-teacher conferences at the elementary schools. We had a great visit with Morgan's teacher who said that Morgan is a "joy" to have in class and is ahead in math, reading, and writing. 

Later in the week, we met with Chloe's teacher who said: "Chloe is like Mary Poppins. Practically perfect in every way." When we walked into the school we were surprised to see her picture on the wall as one of the students being honored for Standing for Courage. 




Friday there was no school, so Morgan came to work with us. She got to come to class with me and Kory. In my class, she sat quietly reading her scriptures and playing on the ipad. She didn't make a peep. Then Isaac took her down to the seminary and she attended class with Kory. He said she wanted to participate, marking all of the scripture mastery scriptures and talking to the students about what she felt about the scriptures. She's so funny.

  April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

  January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member.
