Wait! There's More

I ran out of steam on the last post, so here's the rest of Christmas. I drove back to Kory's bright and early on Christmas morning so I could be there when the kids opened their stuff. Mostly the older kids helped the younger kids open their stuff and set up toys. I watched some of the Spiderwick Chronicles with Caleb. Kory took the kids to their mom's house around 11:00 and we headed to Victor.

We had a delicious meal at his parents house and then we all went to the neighbor's house and went on a sleigh ride--a real sleigh ride, with big horses, and runners on the sleigh and everything. It was such a picture perfect moment--the sun was setting, so the Tetons were pink colored, the countryside was covered in snow, with little dark spots of houses and trees. It was breathtakingly beautiful.

We headed back to the house and visited and watched some TV. Around 10:00 we noticed that the septic tank was leaking, so after the men fiddled around with it for awhile, we decided we'd better head home, since we couldn't flush the toilet.

The next day Kory went to work and I piddled around. We met at the temple for a session and then went to Applebee's for dinner. After that we went to my parents house and visited with them and my sister for awhile. It was a really fun night and I felt very in love.

On Friday Kory's dad took all of the Idaho Falls folks to Chuck-o-Rama for a late lunch. While we were there Chloe said she felt like she was going to throw up, so I hung out with her in the bathroom until it was time to leave. After that, Kory and I met BJ and Camille and we went and looked at furniture while we waited for our movie to start. We saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The cinematography was amazing and it was a feel-good sort of movie. Earlier that day I saw Saving Mr. Banks which I cried all the way through. Very gut-wrenching.

On Saturday we had a Gee get-together, because David and Kelley were here. We had lunch around 1:30 and then the kids sledded and the adults visited. Kory and I watched the Food Network--Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I was starting to feel sick and Kory was pretty tired.

On Sunday I woke up feeling horrible, but I was supposed to go to church with Kory, so I got ready and headed out. We went to a sacrament in Basalt, Idaho (which is near Firth, if you've never heard of it like me). This girl had arranged a choir to sing at her brother's report and they were singing Kory's sons of Helaman song. It was pretty cool and a nice surprise for her brother--that's one of his favorite songs.

After that I felt so yucky that  I went home and went to bed, and that's pretty much what I've been doing all week. I'm about to go crazy, but I have this painful sore throat that won't go away. Ugh!

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te
