Lady A

So, my Christmas present from Kory was tickets to the Lady Antebellum concert in Salt Lake. I'm not a huge country fan, but I absolutely love this group--their harmony is like buttah to me. So, even though I was feeling sick, we needed to head to Utah to see the concert.

We went early to do some stuff on Temple Square. One of Kory's students works in media for Seminaries and Institutes, so he gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of the conference center, underground tunnels, and the media department. Pretty interesting stuff. After all that we went and ate at the Cheesecake Factory at City Creek Mall. We wanted to get out of our church clothes, so we went and changed in the car, which was pretty funny. Then we went back and walked around the shops in City Creek.

We headed to the Delta Center and prepped for the concert. It was funny to see the mix of people. Lots of older people, plus the usual younger crowd. My only complaint is they had two opening groups and they played for a couple of hours. Lady Antebellum didn't start playing until 10:00, which is past my bedtime. Plus my throat was hurting to much. BUT, they were incredible. They are great entertainers, sounded wonderful live, and the show was great. They did songs from their new album, some oldies, some covers. It was just a great show. I highly recommend them. After the show, Kory and I speed walked to the conference center, because we had parked in their underground parking. Well, they close at 11:30 and it was 11:45. Luckily, we happened to come across a guard, who let us in. We were afraid we were going to have to call my brother, David, to come get us.

We drove to Layton to Dave and Kelley's house and slept there for the night. In the morning, Kelley made us an incredible breakfast--of course. Then we visited friends and family all day. We went down to Spanish Fork to see Jodi and the baby. I stayed away from the baby because I was sick, but I peeked in at him. After that we met up with my friend Jenie at Cracker Barrel for a little lunch. After that we went to see Kory's sister Jodi in Pleasant Grove. And finally, we stopped to see my friend Kim in Kaysville. Lots of visiting and the GPS on my I-Phone really came in handy.

On our way home we stopped at Maddox drive-in for burgers and shakes. So yummy! So, in spite of feeling sick, it was a great trip and I absolutely love traveling with Kory. On the last stretch between Pocatello and home he said, "Let's search channels and see who can name the group singing first." Of course he trashed me on this, since he knows many more rock groups than I do, but it was a fun game. Sure excited to be married to him in three weeks.

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te
