November 2022
On November 7, we gathered to celebrate Morgan’s 14th birthday.
On the 12th, Kory and I went to the baptism of Hazel, my sister’s daughter. We gave her a cute little unicorn because she loves stuffed animals.
On the 13th, we put up our Christmas decorations because I was going
to have chemo the following week and wouldn’t feel up to it. We had to adjust a
little to decorating a new home—some of the decorations don’t fit any more!
On the 16th, I found out that my niece Ainsley had
been hit by a car while riding her moped. To make matters more complicated, she
has been living and working in Hawaii! So, I woke up to about 30 text messages
and was so scared for her. She wasn’t wearing a helmet, but miraculously she’s
doing okay. Kristi needed to go over to be with her, so I drove her down to
Salt Lake on Wednesday night so that she could catch a super early flight. The
next morning, I had a quick breakfast with some of my old roommates. It was so
fun to visit with them! I have been blessed to know such great women in my
life.
I was supposed to get chemo on the 22nd, but when
I went in my platelet count was too low, so they couldn’t treat me. On the 24th,
we hosted Thanksgiving at our house. All our kids were there except Austin and
Leah were with the Wrights. We had fun cooking, eating, watching football,
visiting, etc.
By the 28th, my platelets were back up, so I went
in for my 8th of 12 chemo treatments. Everything went fine, but that
night I got the flu! Chemo and flu are not a good combination. I went back on
Thursday to get my chemo pump unhooked and they prescribed some Tamiflu and
reminded me to go to the ER if I got a high fever, because I guess fevers are extra
dangerous for chemo patients. Anyway, the whole week was a little rough, but we
survived. Kory has been the best support ever. I love him so much!
