September 2022

On September 2 our new piano was delivered. We love it!

On September 5, most of the family gathered at Rigby Lake for Labor Day. We had lots of food and everyone had fun playing in the water, on kayaks, and playing in the sand. It was a nice, chill day.

On September 6 I had my third round of chemo. While we were there, the kids called and said that a kitty showed up on our doorstep. We said, “whatever you do, don’t feed it!” but it was too late. So, we have a kitty. After it kept showing up and of course being lavished with attention, it decided we were it’s new home. I asked on the ward Facebook page if anyone knew whose it was, but no one seemed to. After a few weeks, our neighbor a couple of doors down showed up and said it was their kitty, but they had been out of town and he must have thought he was abandoned. So, the neighbor was so sweet when we saw how disappointed we were. He said, “are the kids really attached to it,” and we said YES, so he said we could keep it. He said they already have a cat and their grandkids’ cat is having kittens, so they will just get a new kitty from them. We were overjoyed! So, I took the cat to the vet for some shots. At that point we had been calling it Millie, but the vet said “females don’t have testicles” so it’s a boy. We’ve been trying different names. Auggie, Olly, Jack. But Chloe and Phoebe have decided his name is Binx, so there you go!

On September 10, we moved Caleb up to his new apartment at BYU-Idaho and tried to help him get oriented to the campus. He and we were all a little nervous, since he was going to be moving in with a bunch of guys he doesn’t know, but when we saw that his roommate had a stuffed Pokemon on his bed, we figured they would be fine. He has really enjoyed his classes, ward, and roommates and being on his own a bit more. Of course, we miss him, so we encourage him to stop by as much as he wants!

On September 17, Kory and I headed up to Island Park to enjoy a little getaway. We went to Big Springs and walked the nature trail. Then, we headed to Mesa Falls and looked at the waterfalls. We ended up in Ashton at Frostop and ate some burgers and fries. It was so pretty, with perfect, cool Fall weather.

After Phoebe gave him his first bath.

BYUI started up. I’m just teaching one class on Zoom this semester, because of the chemo. Chemo has gone well, but I definitely reacted worse to the fourth round and even threw up. One of my doctors had said “our goal is for you to never throw up,” so I’m not sure what happened this time.

Kory and I got new callings—he as the Primary chorister and me as the Primary pianist. We are super excited to be able to work together, use music, and work with kids! Other than that, we’ve just been enjoying golfing and walking around Rigby Lake to enjoy the cooler weather. I love Fall!

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te
