September 2021

September was mostly busy with school and getting back into our routine.

On September 4, Isaac ran the Pocatello Marathon. He has always been a great runner, but this distance kind of hurt him. He had to go to the medical tent after because he was shaky and weak. He was fine after a while, but we were really worried about him. After that, Kory and I went to Lava Hot Springs.

On September 5, I went to Finn’s baby blessing. I also got really into The Mandalorian and knew my dad would love it, so I signed him up for Disney Plus and watched a few episodes with him.

On September 6, Kory and I went to the driving range. Andy started her first day of pre-school. Phoebe enjoyed all the new things she was learning at Austin Kade and got to practice doing hair color on Chloe and cut Kory’s hair. On September 12 Kory and I went to my nephew Pace's baptism. It was such an amazing baptism service.

On September 18, Kory and I went with Austin and Leah to the Spud Days celebration in Shelley. They had a parade and then lots of food booths and activities the rest of the day. Chloe had fun dressing up for Idaho Falls Homecoming Week. Caleb couldn’t get work off for Skyline’s Homecoming dance, so he went to Idaho Falls’ dance. He and Alex ate some take-out from Olive Garden in his Grandma Andrus’s pretty yard and then went to the dance.

On September 27, we had pizza at our house and most of the kids came over (Austin’s family was in quarantine) to say good-bye to Grandpa Kunz before he went back to St. George for the winter. On the 30th, Morgan went to the Pocatello Temple Open House with her Young Women’s group. On Friday, Kory and I went to the open house. We went early and had dinner at Butterburr’s and then went through the temple. It’s very pretty.

  1. Hi Suzette! I just had to leave a comment. I was so excited to find your blog! I grew up in Roosevelt, Utah and Kory's songs have been near and dear to my heart since I was a young girl. My cousins lived in Vernal and attended seminary at Uintah in the 90's. We got a tape from them that we listened to over and over. My 10 year old son and I were doing some cleaning today and stumbled over a cassette of I Believe. We happen to have a cassette player, so we started listening to it and I told him how each song had a story behind it. He Is, For the Truth I would die, In a Coming Day. I went online and found his other album My Brother. Can't wait to listen to it! I remember the song "One Foot in Heaven." I am so glad I can introduce his music to my children! (14, 12, 10, and 8) With love, Caralee Turnidge

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te
