October 2020
On October 2, Kory started to get feverish and achy. As his
symptoms lasted, we decided to get him tested for COVID. We ended up going to Madison
Memorial in Rexburg for his test on October 4. He started quarantining and we
did too, since we had been exposed. I started to get a cold on October 7 but
after a few days lost my taste and smell, so I got tested for COVID on October
12. Both of us were positive for COVID. So, we had a long few weeks teaching
from home and quarantining. Caleb and Chloe stayed home from school because we
weren’t sure if they’d get it. They never seemed to show symptoms. It was a
pretty mellow month with lots of books, puzzles, and movie nights as a family. Kory
and I didn’t feel great, but we didn’t suffer some of the more severe symptoms
others have.
On October 24 we finally felt we were safe enough to see the
kids, so we had fun hanging out with Austin, Leah, and the girls. That night we
drove up to St. Anthony and had pizza at a new restaurant there and took my
parents with us. We had a fun time visiting and enjoying some yummy food. We
also had our first snowstorm of the season and on the way home saw a six-car
pile up at the Lorenzo Bridge. We were happy to get home safely.
On the 26th we had the kids over for a Halloween
party plus a second birthday party for Caleb. We had cake and ice cream for
Caleb. He got a longboard, the Legend of Zelda game, some DVDs and some
clothes. We had pizza and snacks and visited and played with the grandkids. A
few people decided to carve/paint pumpkins, but Morgan was the only one who
finished one. Chloe and Caleb went to Skyline seminary on Tuesday for a special
3 Nephi activity.
On the 31st we took Chloe and her friend Cassidy
and Caleb to Lagoon. We had promised to take them to Frightmares, but then we
got COVID, so this was pretty much the only available day to do it. The weather
was perfect and it wasn’t too crowded. We had a nice time.
