October

October 2019
The first week of October we enjoyed General Conference and we had the kids, so we had our traditional toaster strudel. After conference on Sunday, Kory and I went for a nice stroll on the green belt with Chloe. Earlier that week, my parents hosted a mission reunion and Elder Bednar was the speaker, so it turned out to be a nice event.

I finished my dissertation revisions and sent them to my committee for the defense in November. To celebrate being done with the dissertation, Kory and I went to Lava Hot Springs on the 12th. That night, I went to dinner with Paula and Joelle. We later met some other friends at the Kristen Chenoweth concert, which was fantastic. Morgan brought Friend to church with her on the 13th, saying he was feeling left out.

On the 15th, we helped the Sorenson’s host the cross-country team dinner. We dragged our little outdoor grill over there and Kory flipped pancakes.
On the 21st, McKenzie invited everyone over for Ryker’s 4th birthday party. Caleb was eager to open some of his presents, so they shared the party, although Caleb turned 16 on the 25th.

Caleb wrapped up his cross-country season on the 23rd, with District at Freeman Park. He enjoyed the season, but says he may be done with running. He also auditioned for the musical and will be in the chorus of Beauty and the Beast.

On the 25th, I had my department retreat up in Victor all day. That night, Kory, me, Lakyn, and Morgan went to Kelton Whipple’s reception and I got to meet some of Morgan’s half-siblings.
On the 26th, Kory and I enjoyed a lazy day, visited my parents and then went to dinner with Kristi and Terry at the Idaho Burger Grill in St. Anthony. Really tasty burgers.

On the 30th, Phoebe and I checked out Evan’s Hairstyling College, because she’s thinking of attending. On the 31st, Kory was teaching at BYUI, so I manned the trick or treat candy all night. That’s it for October.

Also, we had a freak snowstorm the week of Halloween and someone slid into Isaac's bumper, so we've been handling that.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member. He hissed and growled at Todd, who didn’t seem overly c...
