January 2019

January 2019 Phoebe turned 18 in January and celebrated with a trip to Farmington for some shopping and to stay overnight in a hotel. She invited her cousin Ashtyn to go with her and Kory drove them down and provided the money.

With some changes in the ages for priesthood ordination, Caleb was excited to be ordained as a Priest. Zach Simpson’s mother passed away and so Kory, Caleb, McKenzie, Lakyn, Phoebe, Lynette and a few other friends sang “In a Coming Day” at the funeral. After the first week of school, everyone took turns getting the flu. Caleb started off, then Chloe and Morgan, and finally Suzette. Chloe and Morgan were both sick at home together, so that worked out.

Another big change in January was switching from three-hour church to two. We started teaching Sunday School in our own families. Luckily, Kory has quite a few resources as a seminary teacher, so the kids get the full-on Powerpoint when he teaches. Although Chloe says she prefers the three-hour church, we love being able to take the time as family to talk about these gospel concepts together.

We did our annual measuring FHE where we saw how much everyone has grown. The three little ones are still growing a lot-especially Morgan and Caleb.

We also enjoyed a visit from Leah and Andy when they were here in town for a little awhile.

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

January/February 2023

January 2023 On January 3 we helped Caleb move back into his apartment on campus and took Phoebe to Fuji for her birthday dinner. On the 7 th , we went to Austin and Leah’s and had some delicious Olive Garden takeout and watched some of Matilda the Musical. On January 12, we went through the Rexburg temple with my niece Maddie. On January 14 th , I went to a baby shower for my niece Kami. She is the first grandchild to have a baby, so this will be my parents first great-grandchild. On the 27 th , we had a new addition to our household. That afternoon, Phoebe asked me if there was any way we could consider getting another cat. Her friend had to move and wouldn’t be able to take the cat to the new location. For some reason, I agreed, and she picked him up that afternoon. He’s an orange cat, and was originally named Scar, but our girls named him Todd after the Fox and the Hound . Binx was NOT happy at the new family member. He hissed and growled at Todd, who didn’t seem overly c...
