We had some gorgeous fall nights right before conference, so we took the little ones to a fun corn maze in Blackfoot. They had bouncy house toys for the kids, slides, hayrides, a pumpkin patch, food, and three corn mazes. We were there for three hours and the kids loved it.
They were giving away some free pumpkins so we each got a small one on our way out.
Saturday and Sunday were conference. We had our usual Toaster Strudel on Sunday morning. We found out last week that Austin and Leah are having a girl in March. We are excited for another grandkid (number 3) and they are looking at/making offers on houses and may be moving in soon. Right now they are living with Leah's parents and they both work at Leah's parents' business, Leisure Time--they sell stoves, hot tubs, etc. Austin has school on MWF, so he carpools to Rexburg with Kory and I. They were looking for an apartment to rent, but rents were way higher than a house payment would be, so they decided to go this way.
After morning session, we loaded up and headed to Driggs. Kory's dad was in the hospital with a pretty serious knee infection. We brought some pizzas to cook for lunch and then we heard afternoon session and headed to the hospital to visit. As we walked in, the people on duty were like "Woah! How many are there!" (Only about 20).
Kory had the week off from teaching because of spud harvest, but he was busy with helping the kids and planning lessons. He joined me on Tuesday to listen to Isaac sing in the devotional with the Men and Women's choir. They sounded great. Morgan didn't have school on Friday, but she was thrilled at the idea of coming to work with us, so she spent the morning with Kory at the seminary, and the afternoon with me. I gave her her own desk space and she grabbed this clipboard, some paper, and started walking up and down the hallway, looking at everyone's doors, jotting down their names, and seeming very official. She cracks me up.
This past weekend, Kory and I were up in Driggs again, staying with his mom while his dad was still in the hospital. She has Parkinson's so she needs people around for when she gets unsteady on her feet. We took her out for a short walk, went to visit Kory's dad in the hospital, and took her to lunch at the Royal Wolf. Kory's dad has been in the hospital for about two weeks. They had a hard time identifying what kind of infection he had and there have been some real ups and downs, but he finally seems to be responding to the antibiotics and can hopefully be back at home this week and healed enough to get down to St. George, where they spend the winter. Two of Kory's sisters live down there and so they have someone to look after them when they are down there.
