Well, the past few weeks have definitely been all about Isaac. He's finishing his senior year, applying for a mission, applying for college, completing his last season of track and basically, hitting a lot of milestones.
This past week Kory and I were planing on a little trip to St. George, but then we realized we'd probably be there when Isaac received his mission call. We decided to cancel our plans and stick around here, so that we wouldn't be holding anything up if the call came.
We hoped the call would be here Thursday night, because Isaac had a track meet in Boise which he had to leave for on Friday. Of course, it didn't get here Thursday. So, Kory, me, and Isaac headed over to Boise for the meet--found out right before his race that his call had arrived.
Luckily, he was able to focus and took first in the two mile at 9:32. After that, we headed to the hotel and then went and got some dinner. Then we went to the Meridian Temple site, which was pretty cool. It looks a lot like the Alberta temple. Then we stopped at a Krispy Kreme for some dessert and then back to the hotel.
The next morning, we headed back over to the meet for Isaac to run the mile. He took first again. He's been trying to beat the Idaho Falls High School school record, which is 4:19. He almost did it, at 4:23. When he runs at lower elevation, he's able to trim a lot of seconds off his time. He has one more meet in Boise this weekend, so he might make it this time.
After his race, we got some lunch and then headed home to open that mission call! First, Isaac went to his friend Hannah's house, since her call arrived the very same day. She is going to the Dallas Texas Spanish speaking mission.
Isaac opened his call and found that he has been called to the Michigan Lansing mission and enters the MTC on June 29. He is totally happy with his call and it's a little mind-boggling to think he will be out of here within ten weeks. Kory and I are so glad that we took the time to take him to Boise this weekend, since it's probably our last one-on-one time with him....ever.
