Life Goes On

Time for an update I think. First of all, I've ben stricken with a weird affliction. The week of my birthday, March 13 I started having severe joint pain in pretty much every joint in my body. I wasn't sleeping, I could hardly walk, I just kind of hobbled around. Kory and I were pretty freaked out. I have never had anything like this happen before. I went to the doctor and he gave me some medicine that didn't even touch the pain, so I went on some steroids a few days later and it nipped it in the bud. So, I still have some twinges in my hands and feet and will probably try to see a specialist when my schedule calms down. The doctor did some blood work but it was inconclusive. He said it could be a virus, polymyalgia, or arthritis. It could also be just a reaction to a huge amount of stress and a big old life change. Who knows.

For my birthday, Kory and Maddie and I went to dinner at Red Robin and then Kory and I went to Heise Hot Springs and soaked--made my joints feel good. Mom and Dad also took Kory and I to lunch on by birthday. So I felt loved. Later that weekend Paula and Joelle took me to lunch at the Snakebite Grill and then we shopped for awhile.  Later we went for a walk on the greenbelt with the kids. Here's a shot of the temple. We like to drop by the Visitor's Center and say hi to my parents when we can. Oh, I also took Chloe and Caleb to Barnes and Noble to let them pick out some books. I'm a sucker for a kid who really loves books. Chloe was adorable because she was like, "I really like this author. Are there some other books by this author?" And when I made her pick between books, she looked at the one she wasn't going to get and said, "I'm sorry I can't choose you this time. I love you." What a girl!

I was called to be in the Relief Society presidency, which was a BIG surprise, to say the least. So, I've had a couple of meetings and activities. I think it will be a great way to get to know my new ward.

It's track season, so we've started watching track meets. I haven't made it to all of them, but when Isaac ran at Madison we went and watched. He did amazing in the mile.....pulled out way in the front at the end. It's fun to watch him run. My family came to watch Isaac and Kory bonded with some of his new nephews. :)

That weekend Kory and went to Lava Hot Springs for another soak and then stopped and ate at Red Lobster in Pocatello on our way home. When we don't have the kids Kory and I will just take little road trips--since we're technically still newlyweds, it's fun to party a little. On Sunday we took a drive through Swan Valley and Driggs to get to my parents house. Love that drive.

This past weekend I was busy helping with Sugar's Junior Miss for a couple of nights and Sam was baptized on Saturday and we had lunch at my sisters. After that we took a little drive to Bone, Idaho, since I'd never heard of it before. It's just straight up Sunnyside about twenty or thirty miles. It was fun to explore back there.

Life is good. It's incredibly busy, but Kory makes everything fun and he's super thoughtful. Couldn't be better. :)

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te...

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with m...
