Jim Gee Family Reunion

We've never had an official Jim Gee Family reunion. We usually just piggy-back on our big Gee Reunion but this year was my parents 50th anniversary, so we wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary. First we tried to go on a cruise with all of the couples, but that didn't work out, so we decided to rent a lodge up in Island Park. Even though everyone couldn't be there, it was so fun to let all of the cousins hang out and play with each other and we definitely look forward to doing it again some time.

First, Kristi, Ainsley and I bought a ton of groceries to feed people!

Monday night people started arriving around 4:00 p.m. and continued until about 9:00 p.m. The kids were going crazy with the indoor zipline, the outdoor zipline, tons of toys, a theatre room, and etc. Finally, when we are all gathered, we had a devotional and watched some DVDs of old slides from mom and dad's childhood.

Everyone found a place to sleep, with the teenagers enjoying their own spot in the bunkhouse. The rest of us slept in the lodge. The next day, we fed lots of little kids breakfast.

Kory and Kelley compared their matching birthmarks.
Then, we met in the theatre room and watched a little movie I put together of mom and dad through the years and some of the other movies I've made over the years and everyone was loving seeing themselves as little kids!

Then, we all got our swimsuits on and headed to Mack's Inn to float the river. Somehow we all managed to get in the river on some sort of flotation device. Most of the adults and babies were on a big raft that moved super slow and got in about an hour after all of the kayakers. Everyone was sunburnt and sore by the end of that!

That night Nathan grilled and it was delicious as usual. Kory and I had to head to Utah for a funeral, so we packed up and headed back to Idaho Falls. I'll talk about that in another post. We got back on Wednesday night in time to eat some food and have a fun campfire with singing and laughing and stories.

Thursday morning Kory and I did the devotional and Kory told his punching the cow story.

Then, we had a non-serious family talent show. Jodi's kids did a little kazoo song, without kazoos.

Nathan's family sang and acted out the song "I Need a Nap."

A mixture of grandkids sang along as Emily played the ukulele.

Kristi's family created a human pyramid.

Kory and Terry did a trombone duet of Christmas songs.

Kelley's family sang and acted out the song "Big Iron."

Dad and some grandkids sang "Sloop John B" with Abby playing on the guitar.

Ainsley led everyone in a dance she learned at EFY.

Then, we tried getting a big group family picture which was as torturous as usual.

Everyone was pretty tired after that and we sat around for a few hours and ate a little bit. Then we went to Buttermilk Campground and found a place for the kids to play on the kayaks and paddle boards.

Thursday afternoon Nate's family and Kelley's family took off. The rest of us just kind of chilled and ate and watched movies and let the kids play.

Friday morning we jumped up and started cleaning and packing so we could get out on time.
On the way home, Kory, Morgan, and I decided to drive up Sawtelle since I've never done that. I was seriously freaked out by some of the drop-offs on the way up but it's a pretty cool view.

We finished off by stopping for lunch at the Frostop in Ashton.

Pie Face

Chloe had her tenth birthday and she asked for the game Pie Face. Yep, you've seen it. The one where everyone takes turns getting whipped cream in the face. Here are some precious moments. Chloe also got a little fort-making kit for her birthday, so we've had these structures in the family room for a few weeks now.

Kory's Story

I just wanted to record this for our family history. When Kory and I were engaged, we went to Salt Lake to talk with someone at CES to see about re-applying to teach seminary. At the time, they indicated that he could re-apply, but they didn't seem positive about the likelihood of him getting re-hired. At that time, we decided not to pursue teaching again. Later that year, CES announced that there was no longer any block on people who had been divorced teaching seminary. Again, we talked with some people, but still felt that the chances of him getting hired were not good, because he would not be able to move if necessary, which is usually the case with new hires.  In Fall of 2015, Kory had a strong impression to check with the pre-service director and see what he would need to do to try teaching again. We still knew that the chances were not great, but he felt that he should pursue it. He began attending the class for pre-service seminary teachers, and was assigned to student te

April 2023

April 2023 On April 1 and 2 we chilled and watched General Conference. On the first, we got a new cat to replace Todd. This cat’s name is Taco, she is a girl, and she’s a tortoiseshell calico. She and Binx have taken quite a while to warm up to each other, but I think we’ll get there. She is cuddly like Todd, so we all like that.  On April 4 I watched Season 3 of The Mandalorian with my dad. On the 5 th , Kory and I took Austin and Leah to the Bee’s Knees for a birthday dinner. They have really great food there and it was fun to visit.  On April 6, we had BYUI Graduation. It was fun to be there, since I’ve missed the past year due to my cancer. On the 7 th , Kory, me, and Caleb babysat for Austin and Leah. It was fun putting the kids to bed and singing with them. Stevie loves the song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” so we sang that a bunch. On April 8, Kory and I went on a little date. We drove up to Driggs and had dinner at O’ Rourkes and then stopped and visited with my parents on t
