Over The River and Through the Woods

So, we spent Thanksgiving this year at Casa Gee. Our kids were with their mom, so it was just Kory and I. The food was delicious, with a special addition of a deep fried turkey thanks to Evan's brother Lane. It tasted so.....moist....yes, I said that forbidden word. After letting that settle in for a few hours we chased it down with some pie. Then we practiced some Christmas songs for a little thing our family is doing at the Visitor's Center in December. Many of the children and menfolk shot clay pigeons for a few hours back in the field. l to r: Mom, Hannah, Jodi, Evan, Lane, Kory, Terry, Kristi, Ellie, Linda, Eden, Lane' daughter (forgot name) Kid Table Number 1 l-r: Ainsley, Abby, Adelle, Gracie, Hannah Kid Table Number 2 Ainsley attacks Eli Dad talks to Nate Hazel nibbles on a pepper Hannah got the wishbone Kory the Baby Whisperer

NCTE and ALAN

Every other year I go to the convention of the National Council of Teachers of English. This year, it was held in Atlanta, Georgia and I attended with four of my co-workers at BYU-Idaho. The conference was held at the Georgia World Congress Center, downtown by the Georgia Dome and the Olympic Stadium. Thursday was spent traveling. Friday, we got checked in and attended workshops all day. That night we ate at a good seafood restaurant in our hotel and then went to bed. Saturday, we attended more workshops and then the ladies went shopping. I went to a good pizza place with Josh and John and then vegged for the rest of the night. (I'm not a shopper.) On Sunday, we went to church. Loved the ward there! Our Lyft driver never showed up to take us home, so we figured out MARTA, the public train system, and somehow made it back to our hotel. That afternoon we went on a tour of Civil Rights sites in Atlanta. The tour director was a white man who was one of the Freedom Fighters and he a

Election Day

For better or worse, we had our election day. Morgan got to go with us, because we picke dher up on our way home from work and then stopped by to vote. We figured out that she was really paying attention when she later set up a voting station in our piano room. She even had little details like "I Voted" stickers and she noticed that there were two people at the table, so she grabbed Chopin as her fellow voting co-worker. I voted for Friend. She cracks me up.

Busy Weekend

On November 4 we went and heard Isaac sing with the Men's Choir in their fall concert. It was awesome. The next morning was Morgan's birthday, so we gave her her present--a lap-desk from Barnes and Noble--she's obsessed with playing office. Then we took her to Kneaders for some French toast and got her all sugared up and miserable. Then we dropped her off at her mom's. We drove to Utah and decided to stop by Dave and Kelley's, which was good, because it happened to be Josh's baptismal day. We missed the baptism, but got to visit with mom, dad, and Jodi's family, in addition to Dave and Kelley. The kids were entertaining themselves with some face paint. After that, we drove around a little and did some shopping. Then we met some of my old roomies for dinner at Los Cucos on 106th. Good food and so fun to hang out and catch up. Finally, we went to Jenie Skoy's wedding reception downtown in Salt Lake. It was
